Take a stroll or a roll with us

Face to Face Recovery College Courses
Life can get busy, and going for a walk often slips to the bottom of our to-do list. But the benefits to our mental and physical wellbeing are too important to ignore. So why not make space in your diary to join us for a gentle, accessible walk in the park? We’ll take it at a relaxed pace with time to rest, connect, and enjoy the outdoors. It’s a great way to explore how you can build simple, supportive movement into your daily routine—from home or wherever you are.
We’ll take time to be mindful of our surroundings and enjoy the company of fellow walkers—whether it’s bright sunshine or a day for rain jackets. Each walk will include a topic of interest to help us explore the benefits of walking and spending time outdoors. You’ll be encouraged to carry this learning with you and continue developing it on your own walks at home.
The route of the walk is accessible for wheelchair users and those using other mobility aids to join us for a roll or stroll. This is a beginners walk, and we’ll move at a gentle pace with plenty of opportunities for rest breaks along the way. You’re welcome to join us for one, two, three, or all four weeks—just let us know when you book your place.
You will need to dress in comfortable clothes and trainers appropriate for exercising in. Ensure you bring a bottle of water but please be advised this will need to be carried. The Holmfield Arms has agreed to let us use their toilet, but please be aware that these toilets are near the meeting place and there are no other public toilets along the walk route.
Already enrolled with the College? Then just give us a call on 01924 316946 or email wakefieldrecoverycollege@swyt.nhs.uk to book on to the course.
