Carers Wakefield & District
Carers Wakefield & District offer free and confidential information and support to adult and young adult carers (people over the age of 18) living in the Wakefield Council area.
Carers Wakefield & District run the following Support Groups for carers. These groups are not running at the moment due to the current situation with Covid-19, however plans are in place to open them up again in the coming months. If you are interested in attending one of these groups, then please telephone Carers Wakefield on 01924 305544 to provide your details and they will contact you to let you know when the group restarts.
- Ackworth Carers Group, Ackworth Library, Bell Lane, Ackworth, WF7 7JH. Meets 3rd Friday of every month, 1.30pm – 3.30pm.
- BAME Ladies Carers Group, Carers Wakefield & District, 25 King Street, WF1 2SR. Meets last Tuesday of every month, 10am – 12pm.
- Care Home Carers Support Group, Morrisons, Dewsbury Road, Wakefield, WF2 9BY. Meets 4th Monday of every month, 10.30am – 12.30pm.
- Ferrybridge & Knottingley Carers Group, Kellingley Social Club, 25 Marine Villa Road, Knottingley, WF11 8ER. Meets last Wednesday of every month, 10am-12pm.
- Hemsworth & SESKU Carers Group, Hemsworth Methodist Church, Barnsley Road, Hemsworth. Meets the 1st Thursday of every month, 12.30pm – 2.30pm.
- Men’s Group, Location varies from month to month. Meets 4th Friday of every month, 12.30pm – 2.30pm.
- Mental Health Carers Group, Carers Wakefield & District, 25 King Street, Wakefield, WF1 2SR. Meets 1st Tuesday of every month, 10.30am – 12.30pm.
- Outwood Carers Group, Bevin Community Centre, Bevin Close, Outwood. Meets 2nd Thursday of every month, 11am – 1pm.
- Pontefract & Castleford Carers Group, Baileygate Court Sheltered Housing Complex, The Maltings, Pontefract, WF8 1HQ. Meets 2nd Tuesday of every month, 10.30am – 12pm.
- Wakefield Carers Group, Quaker Meeting House, Thornhill Street, Wakefield, WF1 1NQ. Meets last Thursday of every month, 10.30am – 12pm.
- Working Carers Group, Sainsburys Café, Trinity Walk, Wakefield. Meets 1st Thursday of every month, 5.30pm – 7pm.
- Young Adult Carers Group (Age 17-25), Locations and activities vary from month to month. Usually meet on a Thursday evening and day trips are arranged out of term time.

In addition to the Carers Wakefield & District Young Carers Support Group above, the Young Carers Support App, launched on Young Carers Action Day 2021, is a one-stop shop for young carers in West Yorkshire and Harrogate with advice and information on relationships, education, your health and more.
